Recently, three short teaser ads featuring Prakash Raj stirred controversy in the social networking medium. The new ad campaign endorsed by him started causing an outcry for its provocative message. The controversial advertisements seemed to target parents and their daughters with the line “kalyana vayassu ponnu irunthaale tension thaane”. Three short teaser ads had appeared, where parents speak to the actor, describing their daughter as a ‘tension’ to an empathetic Prakash Raj who then signs off with the campaign line. Not surprisingly, the campaign had elicited a storm of comments, especially on social media. Facebook posts have appeared by the hundreds on users facebook timelines, some agreeing and some criticizing the campaign. The youtube channel for the respective ads also do not appear under an existing brand’s channel but under an independent channel called ‘Tension daughter’, which only adds to the mystery. Now it has been revealed that the brand is KFJ.
Now Prakash Raj has clarified his stand on the same. He has posted, “kfjgold ad.With due respect to the concerns of all who have taken offence. I would like to state that it was not the intention.
It is aimed at the mindset of people who think girl child is “tension“. The ad clearly states it is the rate of gold u gift ..not the girl. I respect everyone who have questioned me.. And I promise it was not intended. Hope you see it in the context of its expression .. Thank you….”
