Pope Francis led thousands of people throughout the world to pray the Rosary to the Blessed Virgin Mary at the Lourdes Grotto in Vatican Gardens. Around 130 people wearing masks gathered at the Grotto. All the others watched either through television, YouTube, radio and other digital platforms.
The purpose for the recitation of the rosary was to seek help of Our Lady to end the coronavirus pandemic. All the five glorious mysteries were recited and were dedicated to doctors, nurses, military personnel, priests, nuns, pharmacists, journalists, to those who have been infected with the virus and to those who died from it. After the recitation, Pope Francis extended his apostolic blessings. About 50 shrines from Mexico, France, Portugal, England, United States, Pompei, Canada, Argentina, Brazil, Italy, Ireland, and Israel were connected through this moment of prayer.
