Due to the lockdown the Indian cinema industry is dealing with uncertainty and they are slowly adapting to changing times and few film producers have decided to release their films directly on online streaming platforms.
While Jyotika’s Ponmagal Vandhal dropped the news of direct OTT release last month, causing a controversy in the film industry, it is the first-ever Tamil film to announce its direct OTT. Starring Jyotika, Parthiban, Bhagyaraj, Prathap Pothen and Pandiarajan, the film will begin streaming on Amazon Prime from May 29.
Penguin a thriller film starring Keerthy Suresh in the lead will also be released directly on Amazon Prime from June 19. Meanwhile, Amazon Prime Video has secured the global streaming rights of several Indian movies, and the streaming giant will be premiering them in over 200 countries over the next three months.
