Prime Minister Narendra Modi will participate in a virtual Non-Alligned Movement (NAM) Summit to discuss strategies to jointly fight against the spread of the coronavirus. He has been repeatedly harping on the need for an international collaboration to combat the virus. Modi is the first Indian Prime Minister who skipped the Summit in 2016 and again in 2019. This year due to the pandemic, only a virtual summit is being held and it will be attended only by a limited number of participants. Modi is expected to discuss the strategy adopted by India to tackle the virus. Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev who is the current chairman of NAM will chair the meeting.
India has so far provided 2.8 million HCQ tablets to 25 countries as part of a grant assistance. Additionally, consignments of HCQ and paracetamol tablets are sent to 87 countries on a commercial basis.
