Prime Minister Narendra Modi is currently in Rome to attend the G20 Summit. He met Pope Francis in Vatican City yesterday and discussed a number of issues with him ranging from measures for fighting climate change, removing poverty, general matters of global interest and ways to make our planet better.
He was accompanied by National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar. Though the meeting was scheduled only for 20 minutes, it went on for about an hour. There was no set agenda for the meeting with the Pope. PM Modi invited the Holy Father to visit India and the invitation was accepted with pleasure.
This meeting took place ahead of the G20 summit in Rome where the discussions will centre around the issues relating to Covid-19. From there, the PM will head to Glasgow in the UK for the COP26 meeting at the invitation of British Prime Minister Boris Johnson.
