He tweeted this piece of information from the handle @narendramodi. He has assured that he will keep everyone posted. However no reason was given for the decision. This tweet created a flutter within minutes and many social media users urged Modi not to give up his accounts.
The Prime Minister is one of the most followed world leaders on social media. He has 53.3 million followers on Twitter, 44 million on Facebook and 35.2 million on Instagram. The most followed world leader is Donald Trump followed by Barack Obama. Modi was the first Indian to cross the 50 million followers mark on Twitter. The Congress took a swipe at Modi with Rahul Gandhi tweeting asking Modi to give up hatred and not social media accounts.
