Around 8 lakh students across Tamilnadu and Puducherry including private candidates will be writing the plus two exams today. This is the first batch of students who are taking the exam under a revamped State Board syllabus. There was no blueprint provided to the students this year and they had to be prepared to answer any question from any lesson. They were given Model question papers only for reference purposes. The Education Department said that these steps were taken to ensure that students read the entire syllabus and develop a good understanding of the concepts instead of rote learning. The teachers had spent the last few weeks giving special coaching to the children.
Special revision and coaching classes were conducted for slow learners too. Due to the new syllabus, the teachers had to put in extra effort to complete the portions. The Education Helpline 14417 had language teachers answering all the doubts of students. The Education Department said that teachers would be available in the evenings on the days before the exam to answer the doubts and queries of the students.
