Their absence marked their protest against the discrimination shown by the Government
Actors Fahadh Faasil (Best supporting actor) and Parvathy Thiruvoth (won special mention) bagged the National award for their performances in Thondimuthalum Driksakshiyum and Take Off respectively. But the actors along with almost 60 other winners boycotted the prestigious function when they learnt that the President would be giving away only 11 of 137 awards to selected winners. Their absence marked their protest against the discrimination shown by the Government as each of the winners looked forward to receiving the award from the President.
