UNICEF, the United Nations Children’s Education Fund, said that more than a million children have fled Ukraine since the attack by Russia and have taken refuge in neighbouring countries.
Executive Director Catherine Russell said that at least 37 children have been killed and 50 injured. There was an inhuman attack on a children’s hospital in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol and the Russian air strike buried patients under rubble despite an agreed ceasefire.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskly described this bombing as an atrocity in spite of an agreed ceasefire to enable thousands of civilians trapped in the city to escape.
So far more than 2 million people have fled Ukraine since the Russian attack on February 24th. Most of those who fled are women and children as able-bodied men have been ordered by the government to stay home and fight.
