‘I SUPPORT O’ ORGAN DONATION DRIVE AT PHOENIX MARKETCITY
Chennai, 2nd August 2015: Phoenix Marketcity Chennai flagged off a car rally in support of organ donation awareness in association with the NGO Mohan Foundation and Medicall Healthcare.
The rally was flagged off by eminent personalities such as Dr.Manivannan, Joint Managing Director, Kauvery Hospital and Mr.Noel Vessaoker, Centre Director, Phoenix Marketcity Chennai.
The rally sported a unique concept of ‘Time, Speed, Distance’, ensuring that regularity in speed was maintained throughout, enabling the vehicles on the road to draw the right attention for the campaign. The rally commenced at the mall, culminated at Chennai Trade Centre, Nandambakkam, and spanned 2.5 hours. The event witnessed a number of doctors from the medical fraternity who had volunteered for the rally to thereby exhibited support for the cause.
The ‘I Support O’ campaign included a week long signature drive wherein the customers demonstrated their support for the campaign by signing a flex wall erected for this purpose at the mall. The mighty success of the rally drew over 15,000 signatures towards supporting the cause of organ donation, whilst over 900 people had pledged to donate their organs posthumously.
Dr. Manivannan, Joint Managing Director of Kauvery Hospital and a key supporter of this campaign said “Every doctor knows the suffering of patients with major organ failure. It is sad that when so many patients die without getting vital organs, but organs of brain dead patients go waste due to lack of awareness. Tamil Nadu has been a pioneer in organ donation. Through this rally we would like to sensitize the doctors about organ donation.”
Mr. Noel Vessaoker, Center Director, Phoenix Market City, Chennai said “We at Phoenix Marketcity are pleased to be part of this noble campaign to spread the awareness of organ donation. We wanted to join hands with the NGO, Mohan Foundation and Medicall Healthcare to urge the patrons of the mall to step forward and exhibit their support towards this righteous crusade”.
