An Ola driver in Chennai has been arrested for allegedly killing a passenger due to delay in furnishing the OTP before he could board the cab. The driver is said to have punched the man several times after an altercation broke out between the two.
The passenger has been identified as Umendra who was employed with a software company in Coimbatore. He had come with his family for the weekend and was visiting a relative. They had booked a cab. When the cab arrived, there was some confusion about the OTP. The cab driver asked Upendra and his family to get out of the vehicle and first confirm the OTP. While getting down, Upendra is said to have slammed the door of the cab and it led to a heated argument. The driver then punched Upendra who collapsed and was taken to a nearby hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. The cab driver has been arrested and investigations are going on.
