For all those who have always marvelled at Ranveer Singh’s washboard abs or Deepika Padukone’s flat tummy and wondered, ‘what would it take for me to get that celebrity-level body?’ Hard work, of course. But that is not nearly enough. Behind those sculpted bodies are trained people who make sure they sweat it out, keep a vigilant eye on their plates and glasses, and motivate them to stay focused. A whole lot of dedication is the key secret to a chiselled body, and of course someone to train you to attain it.
With our day-to-day work life adding enough monotony to our routines, it is only fair to have a form of workout that refreshes you while making you sweat. Dumbbells and machines are not everyone’s cup of tea, especially not after sitting on a desk the whole day.
For all those, who want to get down to becoming fitter but without going to a gym, finally have ample options to choose from – you can now dance away, jump and hop, or just kick your way through. The Pilates Studio
Story so far: The Pilates Studio was started in January 2011 in Mumbai by Father-Daughter duo Samir and Namrata Purohit, who are both very passionate about fitness. They had tried Pilates abroad and found it magical; and hence wanted to spread the magic all across India. The studio has 3 centres in Mumbai, 2 centres in Ahmedabad, a centre in Hyderabad, Bengaluru, and is also opening a centre in Delhi and Chennai.
Personal attention: The studio has an extremely personal approach. Each client’s needs, goals, body type, health conditions and medical history is considered while designing the workout regime. Those who opt for personal training get the maximum attention and customisation of workout as this is a one-to-one class, but even the group classes are no more than 4-5 people.
Its uniqueness: The uniqueness of Pilates is that the workout is done with springs, ropes and body weight. This ensures that the joints are almost sparred of any stress, hence reducing chances of injury.
3 advantages: It works each and every muscle in the body, the deep muscles as well as the superficial muscles. It focuses on every aspect of fitness, from strength to flexibility, balance, endurance, coordination etc. It improves posture and helps prevent and also recover from injuries.
