A Vatican magazine has denounced the way nuns are treated like indentured servants by cardinals and bishops. They are made to cook and clean for next to no pay.The March edition of the Vatican newspaper exposed the underpaid labour and unappreciated intellect of relief sisters and confirmed that it is becoming the imprint of the Catholic Church’s Me Too movement.
Some nuns even work in the homes of bishops and cardinals and others work in the kitchens of the church or teach. Some cook, clean, do the laundry and serve the clergy but are rarely invited to sit at the tables they serve. The pitiable condition of the nuns was brought to light by Lucetta Scaraffia the editor in chief of “Donne, Chiesa,Mondo.”meaning Women, Church, World.
