Novotel Celebrates Durga Pooja with a Bengali Food Festival

Novotel Chennai, Chamiers Road invites you to a Bengali Food festival to mark Durga Puja, which celebrates Goddess Durga’s victory over the demon king Mahishasura with fun, fervour and food.
The menu features a mouthwatering mix of traditional full course Bengali meals and street food guaranteed to make your taste buds tingle.The main course includes aloo posto (potato cooked with poppyseeds). Ghee Bhat (rice with large dollops of rich ghee), Doi Begun (brinjal cooked with curd), Kolkata Chicken Biriyani, Dak Bungalow Chicken, Kosha mangsho (spicy dry mutton), Macher Paturi (fish baked in a banana leaf with mustard) and of course Macher Jhol (the traditional Bengali fish curry), to name just a few delectable dishes.
The street food spread includes jhal muri (spicy, tangy puffed rice) Bhel puri and more. And to end it on a deliciously sweet note, there’s sondesh, malpua, rasmalai, imarti and kalo jam. All this set in an ambience which reflects Bengali tradition and art, with the attendants attired in Bengali dhoti kurtas and saris, and Bengali songs to put you in the mood.
Fun fact: The incredible creativity shown by various neighbourhood pujas over the years led to Durga puja in Kolkata being listed on UNESCO’s Intangible cultural heritage list in December 2021.
