Former U.S.Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia, Nisha Biswal has been appointed as the President of USIBC,the U.S.India Business Council. The USIBC was recently in the eye of a storm after it decided to set up a new organization called the U.S. India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) breaking away from the USIBC.
This was resented by companies having large commercial stakes in India and they also resisted the iron grip the U.S. Chamber was trying to have over the affairs of the USIBC. Sources said that Ms.Nisha Biswal will have her hands full and she will have to deal very tactfully to articulate the interests that American businesses in a way that it does not irk the Modi Government.
