As Covid cases rise, the Karnataka and Tamil Nadu decide to take stringent measures
The Tamil Nadu government has announced today that the state will have full lockdown on Sundays starting from January 6th, 2022. There will also be night curfew imposed from 10pm to 5am. In Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, schools have been shut and they are to revert to online classes except for standard 10, 11 and 12. Even as 2731 cases were reported in Chennai on Tuesday, Chief Minister M K Stalin appealed to the people to be vigilant, follow Covid protocols and to get vaccinated at the earliest. He said, “Already the third wave is on and people must strictly follow the directives given by the Health Department to prevent the infection from spreading in large numbers. There is no reason to worry but one has to be cautious and take necessary precautions following the COVID-19 protocols.” The Karnataka government also announced that a weekend curfew and night curfew will be imposed for two weeks considering the rise in Covid numbers.
