Nicobar is for modern consumers who are moving away from quick and compulsive purchases and believe in thoughtful acquisitions rather than impulsive purchases.
Sprawling 2300 square feet (and then some), our newest outpost is down south, in Chennai. Located along a broad avenue off Thousand Lights, Nicobar’s Chennai abode can be found perched atop Good Earth. A meandering space with six distinct sections, our newest home stays true to the vibe of the east coast—fresh, open, and starring enough timber and greens to supplant any tropical garden.
According to Raul Rai, Co-founder and CEO, “Nicobar was created to establish a modern Indian voice. We are a design led digital brand with physical experiential stores to complement our online experience. We want to create a democratic design identity that extends beyond the commercial realm into a new way of experiencing design in our everyday lives. My dream is making Nicobar a design hub by bringing together a team passionate about design and digital.
Nicobar At Chennai Retail Experience
As you walk in a flight of steps lead up to an open landing that’s lush with greenery. A community table set out here encourages you to linger, and the mood is one of wanderlust. A little passageway of all their travel essentials leads into the store’s largest section, with colonial-inspired furniture, and a hotspot where people can gather for community events over drinks. Of course there is a swing, a brimming bookshelf, a letter-writing desk, and a series of glass bottles dispensing home fragrances. This hub is where you feel the spirit of Nicobar in a tactile, tangible way. There’s something for everyone in their restored Chennai home—spots to lean against, corners to nestle into, and a wide-ranging array of baubles that are designed uniquely to fit every lifestyle seamlessly.
