Jacinda Ardern, the Prime Minister of New Zealand has tested positive for Covid-19. She will now self isolate for a period of 7 days. In fact, she is already in isolation for the past week after her partner Clarke Gayford tested positive. Her symptoms are said to be moderate.
Jacinda enforced one of the world’s strictest approaches to managing the Covid outbreak. Due to this, the death toll of 892 in the country was among the lowest in developing countries.

These strict restrictions were loosened in March this year and since then, more than 50,000 cases have been recorded.
Jacinda will have to skip two high profile domestic events due to her isolation. One is the release of the government’s emissions reduction plan and the other is the unveiling of the annual budget.
