The Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern gave birth to a healthy baby girl who weighed 3.31 kgs at the Auckland City Hospital. She became the second elected leader who gave birth while in office. The first person to give birth while in office was Benazir Bhutto, the Pakistan Prime Minister.
The Deputy Prime Minister Winston Peters has taken over the administration of the country for the next six weeks as Jacinda will be on maternity leave. New Zealand was the first country to give women the right to vote in 1983 and Jacinda Ardern is the country’s third woman Prime Minister.
