New Zealand has lifted almost all of it’s coronavirus restrictions after there were no active cases reported in the country for the past two weeks. Now there is no necessity for social distancing and ban on public gatherings. However the borders will remain closed to foreigners. Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern told reporters that she was so thrilled to hear the news that there were no active virus cases in the country that she did a little dance.

New Zealand went into lockdown in the 25th March and most businesses were shut, schools were closed and people were asked to stay at home. Now, schools and workplaces are allowed to reopen. Weddings and funerals can be held and public transport too can resume. The country had reported 1,154 positive cases and 22 deaths but had effectively handled the crisis.
