The very popular Italian restaurant at the Raheja Westin Mindspace, Prego, has revamped its menu to include some Sicilian delicacies. Having received a very good response to its Sicilian food festival last year, chef Kaushik Mishra has made some signature dishes of that region a part of the menu.
Among starters, there is the Watermelon Carpaccio with thyme, vanilla, honey, arugula and pine nuts, Warm goat cheese, marinated red beets, apples, caramelized walnuts and grape reduction; Crumb fried artichoke, olives, sundried tomatoes and Mozzarella cheese. For this weather the Watermelon Carpaccio is the best bet as it is light and fresh on the palate.
Other inclusions from the Sicilian region include dishes with pork ribs, sausage, duck etc. Braised spicy pork ribs, onions, pancetta, parsley or Chorizo with, arugula, roasted garlic, fresh chilli, pizzas with grilled chicken, red peppers and chilli flakes, risottos made with roasted pumpkin or bacon, an exotic black rice risotto with asparagus or with grilled chicken and parsley etc.
There is a wide range of pastas too with ingredients like wild mushroom, chicken bolognese and roasted vegetables to choose from. If you like seafood, the grilled salmon steak with green pea mash and young carrots is delicious as is the pan seared sea bass filet with caramelised onions, sage potato flan and caper olive sauce.
We tried several of the dishes and each one was uniquely delicious as Chef does his bit to make each dish stand out from the next. So the next time you visit Prego, ask the staff to point out the inclusions in the menu and try them out. You won’t be disappointed.
