Chinese scientists are said to be developing a new drug in their laboratory which has the power to halt the coronavirus pandemic. The outbreak was in Wuhan, China in December last year and has since then spread across the globe. The drug is being tested by scientists at Peking University.
Researchers say that it could not only shorten the recovery period for those who are infected but also offer a short term immunity from the virus. The drug has shown success at the animal testing stage. It basically uses neutralizing antibodies produced by the human immune system to prevent the virus from infecting cells. The drug should be ready by the end of the year and clinical trials are underway.
