Maryam Nawaz, daughter of Pakistan’s former Prime Minister, Nawaz Sharif was arrested when she went to visit her father in Lot Lakhpat jail in a money laundering case. She was arrested on her way back home. According to an official press release, Maryam and her cousin Yousuf Abbas were arrested in connection with the Choudhary Sugar Mills case.
She was facing moneq laundering charges as she had income beyond her means. The 45 year old Maryam has been taken to the NAB headquarters and she will be presented before an accountability court in Lahore for remand. She has been given a questionnaire for her to fill up. Her arrest came after a day when she accused Prime Minister Imran Khan of the fall of Kashmir and demanded a registration of treason case against him.
