After Mukesh Ambani stepped down as Director of Reliance Jio, his son Akash Ambani was named chairman of the board at Reliance Jio. Akash was previously a non- executive director at Reliance Jio Infocomm Ltd.
Mukesh Ambani will remain chairman of Jio platforms, the flagship company that owns all Jio digital services brands including Reliance Jio Infocomm. This move indicates that Mukesh Ambani will not take on more responsibilities.
Akash Ambani studied economics at Brown University in the United States of America. He is married to his childhood sweetheart Shloka Mehta, daughter of Mumbai based diamond trader and jeweller. Their marriage was held in a lavish manner in Mumbai in March 2019. The couple have a son Prithvi who was born in 2020.
