Indian women’s team captain, Mithali Raj has sculpted history by becoming the first woman cricketer to complete 7,000 runs in One Day International cricket in her 213th match. She achieved this feat during the fourth One Day International match in the ongoing series against South Africa. She is also the first Indian woman to score 10,000 runs in international cricket and the second globally. Mithali was just 19 years old when she broke Australian cricketer Karen Rolton’s record of world’s highest individual test score of 209 not out.
Mithali is way ahead of England cricketer Charlotte Edwards who scored 5,992 runs in ODI’s and retired from international cricket in 2016 after a career spanning nearly 2 decades. Charlotte is the highest run scorer in women’s international cricket with 10,273 runs and Mithali will surpass this record very soon.
