The world’s smallest baby who weighed just 245 grams at birth was nicknamed Saybie by hospital staff. She was born at 23 weeks 3 days into her mother’s pregnancy at a hospital in San Diego California. Doctors said that she would just live for an hour. However the baby survived all odds and survived .
She was born in December in an emergency cesarean section after 23 weeks with pregnancy complications that put her mother’s life in danger. After spending nearly five months in the hospitals neonatal intensive care unit, she was discharged early this month. She weighed 2.2 kg and sported a graduation cap while being discharged.. Doctors are amazed at the baby’s fighting spirit.
