Buckingham Palace announced that Meghan will not accompany Prince Harry to attend the funeral of Prince Philip. She has been advised by her physician not to travel as she is expecting her second child.
The funeral service will be held on April 17 and will be closed to the public in accordance with pandemic guidelines. Prince Harry posted a tribute to Prince Philip which read “In loving memory of His Royal Highness The Duke of Edinburgh… Thank you for your service…You will be greatly missed.”
It will be Prince Harry’s first trip back to England after his and Meghan’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.
The interview caused a lot of tension among the royals and Harry’s elder brother Prince William denied that their family is racist. Prince Albert of Monaco too spoke out against the interview and termed it “inappropriate”. It is not clear as to whether Harry’s visit will heal the family. However, it is seen as a possibility of a reconciliation.
Prince Harry was close to his grandparents, later clarified to Winfrey that no one was responsible for the racist remarks.
