Talks between theatre owners and producer Antony Perumbavoor have failed
After a long break, theatres have finally opened up in Kerala and films are gearing up for release; but with 50% occupancy in the theatre halls, things are yet to pick up pace. Diwali release of Rajinikanth’s Annaatthe didn’t receive the response that was expected in Kerala and now theatre owners are pinning their hopes on Dulquer Salmaan’s next release titled ‘Kurup’ which is expected to reach theatres on November 12th.
Producer Antony Perumbavoor has announced that Mohanlal’s next release ‘Marakkar Arabikadalinte Simham’ which received the National Award this year for best film, best costume and best special effects is opting for an OTT release. Though the film geared up to reach theatres twice this year, owing to the Covid restrictions in theatres, the release got delayed. Unfortunately, now talks with theatre owners have failed and the producer has opted for an OTT release. Antony clarified that he can’t take the risk if theatre owners are not willing to cooperate with his terms and conditions as the film has been made on a whooping budget of 100 crores with mega stars like Mohanlal, Pranav Mohanlal, Suhasini, Manju Warrier , Keerthy Suresh, Kalyani Priyadarshan, Arjun Sarja, Sunil Shetty and Siddique to name some of the lead actors. The movie is expected to stream on Amazon Prime video.
