The High Court is disheartened to see the growing number of cases of minor girls eloping with married men. It felt that it was high time that the State Government comes out with a counselling programme for teenagers and their parents. Both teachers and parents have to pitch in to avert such calamities.
The maturity level of minor girls is low and they can be lured very easily. It is up to the elders to see that these incidents do not recur. The court made these observations while hearing a habeas corpus petition where a 17 year old girl was lured by a 45 year old man, and the police had nabbed the man and remanded him to judicial custody on grounds of kidnapping.
