A 44 year old man who came to attend proceedings in a Family Court stabbed his estranged wife in full public glare and before the eyes of the Family court Judge. The incident took place in the Family Court in the Madras High Court campus. Proceedings were going on in the first Additional Family Court when K.Saravanan from Sriperumbudur who was sitting behind his wife Varalakshmii suddenly took a knife from his shirt and stabbed her on the neck and chest. The Judge asked police personnel outside the court to take control of the situation.
Varalakshmi was rushed to the Government Stanley Medical College and Hospital. Police arrested Saravanan who is a driver with MTC and have booked cases against him under Section 307, attempt to murder, Section 294 b for using vulgar words in public and 228 IPC for intentional insult or interruption to a public servant sitting in judicial proceeding. After this incident security has been tightened in the court campus and everyone will be subject to screening during entry.
