Grandmaster Magnus Carlsen has won every significant classical chess title so far. He won his first World Cup crown after defeating India’s R. Praggnanandhaa 1.5-0.5 in the rapid tiebreaks of the 2023 FIDE World Cup with an overall score of 2.5-1.5

GM Fabiano Caruana defeated GM Nijat Abasov in both rapid tiebreaks to secure the third position.
The just turned 18 year old Pragg did a remarkable job of staying level-headed. Though he lost the final, he has proved that he is a force to reckon with. He has a glorious future ahead of him. His performance has earned him praises from many including Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and chess legend Viswanathan Anand.
Pragg takes home $80,0000 and is guaranteed a spot in the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2024.
