In great news to the development of arts & crafts, women entrepreneurship, small businesses and enthusiastic shoppers across town, Madras Margarita a fun pop up exhibition held its 2nd exhibit – The Christmas Edition in Chettinad Harishree Vidyalam over the weekend. Madras Margarita – The Christmas Market featured a meticulously curated list of stalls and stores ranging from clothes, handicrafts, fun games and delectable food – something for everyone. When asked how the idea for such an experience originated – Lakshmi VP, the mastermind behind Madras Margarita said “An avid shopper myself, I always wanted to bring forth a curated experience where people could shop quality products from lesser known brands. My intent with Madras Margarita was to make it a one stop experience for the entire family to shop and have a fun filled weekend.
The Christmas Edition was inspired by the Christmas fairs in Europe where families and friends rejoice and enjoy the festivities with cheer”. The pop up also featured a book exchange, where visitors could exchange a book they’ve already read for another pre-loved book of their choice. Brands such as Studio Vallikka, Trayee, Beads a la mode, Ecofemme, Baby’s Breath, All things Chettinad, Khwaabh, Go Chic, Madraskarri, A Pretty Jumble were a part of the Christmas Market. Also featured, were a range of artists exhibiting their artwork as merchandise under brands such as Zentrigued, Dyuti, Fabwrap, Terku and Chittaraa. Decadent desserts and treats brought to you by Sweet Talk, Buttons Cupcakes, The Brown Hut, Le Marche, Juco, I&Z Gourmet, Bombay Churros and Paprika provided some oomph to the gastronomical quotient of the event. Not limiting itself to stalls & shopping, Madras Margarita also featured a host of shows and workshops. A mobile phone photography workshop by Point Black Studios, Make up demonstration by Miss Chuckle, Elixir – a pop culture quiz, live music by Midnight Shuffle and a improv comedy show aptly named – Takkunu Oru Padam by The Pundits were some of the highlights of the 2 day event.
