The cost of an LPG cylinder has again gone up. It is the steepest hike since January 2014. A non-subsidised cylinder weighing 14.2 kgs was increased between Rs 144.50 and Rs 149. The prices of cylinders in Delhi has risen to Rs 858.50 from Rs 714. In Kolkata it now costs Rs 896 after an increase of Rs 149.
The cost in Mumbai rose to Rs 829.50 after being increased by Rs 145, while the price in Chennai was hiked by Rs 147 and now costs Rs 881. The subsidy for domestic users has been increased to Rs 153.86 per cylinder from Rs 291.48. The Congress has condemned the steep hike in prices and has accused the Centre of ‘electrocuting’ household budgets. In Kolkata, both the Trinamool Congress and the CPI(M) slammed the BJP government for raising the prices.
