A number of lawyers of the Madras High Court staged a demonstration outside the High Court campus condemning raids made by the Central Bureau of Investigation on the official and residential premises of Supreme Court Advocate Indira Jaisingh and her husband Anand Grover.
The protests were left by Senior Advocate R. Vaigai and Advocate N.G.R. Prasad. The advocates raised slogans against the Central Government and accused it of misusing the CBI against legal activists. They said that upright judges and activist lawyers were being targeted by the Centre. Ms Vaigai said that Indira Jaisingh had championed the cause of the poor and the downtrodden and therefore it was imperative for society to stand up for her at this juncture. It was decided that a national level convention would be organized to condemn the raids.
