A woman from Kolkata threw her newborn baby out of the toilet window after giving birth to it inside the toilet of her house. This gruesome incident took place on the 22nd of April in Kasba area.
The woman who is said to have mental issues said that she was not aware that she was pregnant and was perplexed on hearing the cry of the baby and therefore threw it out of the window by breaking the glass pane.
On hearing the sound, locals rushed to the spot and found the newborn baby and immediately informed the police. Meanwhile, the woman who was found bleeding was taken to a nearby hospital along with the baby. However, the baby passed away the next day.
Inquiries revealed that the woman was married to an alcoholic and that neither her husband nor her other family members were aware that she was pregnant. The woman has been booked under IPC and the police are continuing their investigation.
