Indian origin peer Lord Karan Bilimoria raised the topic of India-UK ties during an audience with the King ahead of his coronation ceremony on Saturday and requested King Charles III to consider a visit to India. He believes that a visit by the King will improve bilateral relations between the two countries.
King Charles earlier visited India in November 2019 and celebrated his 71st birthday in Mumbai. Lord Bilimoria disclosed that the King has a great fondness for India during an interaction with a group of parliamentarians at Westminster Hall as part of a special pre-Coronation reception.
Billimoria is an ardent advocate for closer India-UK ties and he feels that a visit by Britain’s first Indian-origin prime minister would help to improve friendly ties between the two countries. He helped to create the UK India Industry Taskforce last year.
