KINDERGARTEN KIDS FORM ‘CLEANINGTON EXPRESS’ AT CITY PARK
Morning walkers at the Jeeva Park in T.Nagar got lessons in cleanliness from an unexpected quarter – kindergarten kids! “One, two, three. Let’s go trash free.” hooted the Cleanington Express, a 11 member team of tiny tots from PSBB School,T Nagar, as it meandered along the Jeeva Park on Saturday morning. The little brigade picked the trash, some of them with mobile cardboard dustbins strung around their necks, sang and interacted with the curious walkers and even managed to get the elders to take a pledge to keep the park and the city clean.
This “Keeping Clean is Fun” event organised by PSBB School in collaboration with British Council was for the International School Award that works towards exchanging best practices from around the world. Cheering the kids at the neighbourhood park Mrs Durga Chandrasekar, Vice Principal said “This activity will be shared with schools abroad and help in mutual learning and appreciation.” Latha Chandramouli, a parent, feels such activities will “ foster civic sense in our children at a formative age, much more than text books.” Sanvi, one of the participants, says she is now looking forward to her visits to the park “not just to play but to also pick up paper cups”.
