The Tamilnadu Government has decided to close all kindergarten classes in schools across the state till the 31st March. This is seen as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19. In the districts of Kanyakumari, Tenkasi, Theni, Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Tirunelveli and Nilgiris where cases of Covid 19 have been reported, the closure order is applicable upto class 5.
The order issued by the Commissioner of School Education is applicable to all types of schools. Chief Educational Officers of all districts have been asked to issue necessary instructions to schools in their jurisdiction in this regard. They have also been asked to create awareness among students regarding preventive measures like frequent handwashing with soap, using a handkerchief to cover the mouth while coughing or sneezing and staying away from school when sick.
