Reality TV star Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her rapper husband Kanye West after 7 years of marriage. This report came weeks after the US media reported that the celebrity couple were living separately and were going through counseling for relationship issues.
Kim is seeking for joint custody of their 4 children. Though her publicist confirmed that the divorce petition was filed, no other details were disclosed.
The couple began dating in 2012 and were married in a lavish ceremony at a 16th century fortress in Florence, Italy two years later. Even though they were a famous celebrity couple, their marriage was on the rocks due to the mental health issues of Kanye and also his controversial foray into US politics. Kanye recently opened up on his struggle with bipolar disorder.
The couple have 4 children, daughter North aged 7, son Saint aged 5, daughter Chicago aged 3 and son Psalm who is 21 months old.
They were living separately for some time. While Kanye was living at his sprawling ranch in Wyoming, Kim stayed with the 4 children in California. This will be the first divorce for Kanye and the third one for Kim.
