The state reported 32,803 new cases with official death toll reaching 20,961
Even as neighbouring states prepare to open schools and ease restrictions, Kerala is still on high alert with cases crossing 30k mark on a single day and deaths going up to 173. Government sources revealed that strict containment steps and localised strategic lockdown is the only way ahead. With traders committing suicide and businesses being affected badly, it would be a tough call for the Pinarayi Vijayan government to impose lockdown. It has been speculated that home isolation guidelines have not been followed which is what has pushed the cases to such high numbers. The total number of active cases is currently at 2,29,912.
