The Kerala High Court granted anticipatory bail to filmmaker Aisha Sultana in connection with a sedition case filed against her. Aisha moved the Kerala High Court for anticipatory bail after she was booked on grounds of sedition following her criticism of Lakshadweep Administrator Praful Patel and her ‘bioweapon’ remark.
She was asked to appear before the Kavaratti Police Station on June 20 and hence she filed the bail application.
Earlier on June 17th, the Court granted her interim anticipatory bail for a week but asked her to cooperate and appear before the police for interrogation. She was accordingly interrogated by the Kavaratti police on June 20, 23 and 24 during which her social media accounts were examined. The police checked her Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram accounts to search if she had any links with foreign countries. She was let off after the interrogations and was told that she can return to Kochi.
