The virus detected in September 2020 is expected to sweep across the world
The Kent virus first detected in September 2020 in South East England has been spreading rapidly across the world and has been reported in more than 50 countries now. The current vaccine has been designed to fight the first strains of the virus but scientists believe that the Kent virus may overpower the effects of the vaccine and that they need to continue their research on new vaccines. Professor Sharon Peacock, Director of Covid -19 Genomics, UK consortium stated that,”What is really affected us now is the transmissibility.” Washing hands, wearing masks and maintaining social distancing will go a long way in controlling the spread of the virus.
