The Tamilnadu city police recently launched the Kavalan SOS App to ensure security for women and citizens at large. This move by the police received a thumbs up from girl students of Coimbatore. They installed the app on their mobile phones at a function held in the city.
The Coimbatore city police Commissioner Sumit Saran while speaking at the launch said that the app was not only for girls but could be used by everyone. There was a live demonstration on how to use the app at the function. The app has an SOS button which when pressed would send distress messages to the police and also to the other people whose details the user had entered into the app.
