Karthi has been shooting for Mani Ratnam’s Ponniyin Selvan for the past two years. In a tweet, he confirmed that he is playing the role of Vandhiyathevan in the period drama. Yesterday, his co-star Jayam Ravi wrapped his portions for the film and took to Twitter to share the same with his fans. Funnily replying to his tweet, Karthi revealed the role that he is playing in Ponniyin Selvan.
Replying to his tweet, Karthi called him ‘Ilavarase’ (Prince in English). He also revealed he is playing the role of Vandhiyathevan. His tweet is translated as, “Prince @actor_jayamravi, you cannot bid goodbye so soon! You have a lot to do for the Chola Dynasty. In six days, we will finish work in the North and head back to the South – Vandhiyathevan.”

Karthi will play the role of Vandhiyathevan in the film. Vandhiyathevan is a trusted aide and friend of Adithya Karikalan (played by Chiyaan Vikram). He is often considered a spy. Jayam Ravi plays the role of Arulmozhi Varman, who is fondly called Ponniyin Selvan. Karthi, Trisha, Jayam Ravi, Chiyaan Vikram, and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan have been shooting for the ongoing schedule of Ponniyin Selvan in Madhya Pradesh.
