Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut was awarded Y-plus security by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs in the year 2020 after she had a dispute with a Member of Parliament and claimed that her life was in danger.
This decision to grant her security was questioned by Rajya Sabha member Subramaniam Swamy who stated that the SPG had no business to track Bollywood stars.
Kangana in turn replied and stated that she is not just a Bollywood star but also a concerned citizen and a target of political malice in Maharashtra. She stated that she is also a filmmaker, writer and producer and her next production- Emergency involves Operation Bluestar. Therefore, as she foresaw a threat to her life, she requested for extended security and wanted to know what was wrong in asking for it.
