Kochi Marriott Hotel Goes Dark To Shine A Light On Climate Action!
Kochi Marriott Hotel goes dark to shine a light on climate action with Earth Hour 2017. The hotel will join millions around the world in turning off lights for one hour on March 25 at 8:30 p.m. local time to illuminate a powerful message about environmental awareness and action. The annual global environmental awareness event was created and instituted by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) in 2007 to emphasize the threat of climate change.
Kochi Marriott hotel is participating by turning off exterior signage lighting; turn off non-essential interior lighting; dim light in appropriate public areas such as Kochi Kitchen and the lobby. Cassava restaurant will feature a candle light dining experience. The hotel will be maintaining 1 degree higher temperature without hindering guest experience.
Kochi Marriott hotel will also feature a special Earth Hour dinner at Kochi Kitchen featuring specials like Malaysian Butter crab, Malaysian beef curry, Curried chicken noodle soup, Ikan Bakar (Spiced roasted fish), Botok Botok (Steamed fish wrapped in banana leaf) Kerabu Manga (Spicy raw mango salad) Coconut mango pudding and more.
By demonstrating these efforts on social media, Kochi Marriott hotel will be participating in Marriott International’s drive to raise funds for WWF, where US $1 will be donated for each Marriott property that tweets their Earth Hour activities.
“It’s a privilege for us to support such a powerful movement with such a simple gesture,” said Denise Naguib, Vice President of Sustainability and Supplier Diversity, “Earth Hour reflects a philosophy we try to practice year-round that we all must do our part and together we can make a big difference. Climate change affects everyone and it also has an impact on the continued success of our business.” Kochi Marriott Hotel is located at the Lulu Mall, Edapally.
