Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears was suspended from the role of Britney’s guardian by a Los Angeles court thereby putting a full stop to a long legal battle.
Jamie was suspended with immediate effect and replaced with a temporary conservator ”in the best interests ” of the singer, said judge Brenda Penny. A hearing to fully terminate the guardianship is expected before the end of the year.
Jamie controlled his daughter’s life for the past 13 years under a controversial legal arrangement that Britney slammed as ”abusive”.
Many supporters gathered outside a Los Angeles courtroom and carried slogans that said ”Jail Jamie”.The ruling came after Britney’s lawyer Mathew Rosengart filed a motion to have her father removed.
Meanwhile Jamie has objected to Britney’s choice of a new temporary conservator to replace him. He said that John Zabel, a certified public accountant, lacked the necessary experience.
