Ishita Kishore, a graduate from Delhi University secured the first place in the civil services examination 2022. The first 4 ranks were bagged by women. The results were announced by the Union Public Service Commission on Tuesday.
The second, third and fourth ranks were secured by Garima Lohia, Uma Harathi and Smriti Mishra. While Garima Lhia and Smriti Mishra are graduates of the University of Delhi, Uma Harathi holds a B Tech degree from IIT-Hyderabad.
This is the second consecutive year when women candidates secured the top three ranks in the civil services exam. The top 25 candidates comprise 14 women and 11 men.
The civil services preliminary examination was conducted on June 5, 2022. A total of 11,35,697 candidates applied for the exam and 5,73,735 appeared for it. A total of 13,090 candidates qualified for the main exam that was held in September 2022, out of which 2,529 qualified for the final interview stage.
