As the end of year festivity grips the city with a celebratory mood, InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort unveiled its iconic Christmas Tree sculpted from sand and seashells. Conceptualised by the Resorts engineering team, 14 feet tall nautical tree drives home a compelling eco-awareness message revolving around the evident climate change and beach erosion experienced by the Eastern Coast of Mahabalipuram.
InterContinental Chennai Mahabalipuram Resort has been driving many eco-conservation projects in the last 3 years in line with IHG Hotels & Resorts Green Engage program. This year’s campaign is anchored in Coastal Care to bring forth Resort’s commitment to responsible waste management, tree plantation drives, and sustainable amenities use. The hotel team also reached out to the local fishermen community of Covelong Village to support their livelihood with seashell and ornament purchases.
The evening panned out with a hearty tete-a-tete, with guests exploring Resort’s new feature additions such as the newly upgraded ‘Planet Trekker- Family Recreation Room’, Tiki-la sundown grills and cocktail showcase at KoKoMMo Beach Shack and interaction with certified wellness practitioner at the Resort. This was followed by the tree lighting ritual and gourmet sundown showcasing the season’s freshest plum cakes and stollen pieces of bread, indigenous smorgasbord, coastal small plates curated by the culinary team led by Executive Chef Mihir Kane.
The event was attended by like-minded eco-enthusiast and beach patrons such as actor Surya Ganapathy, Tania Balaji, Influencer and popular content creator Harini Venugopal, Simran Jain, socialites Ramya Sumana, Prachi, Janani, Radhe, and many more.
