It is the first time that India is reaching a two digit medal tally at the Paralympics
India has fared well at the Paralympic Tokyo games with the medal tally going upto ten for the very first time. It was Bhavinaben Patel who opened India’s account at the Paralympics by winning a silver medal for table tennis. She became the second Indian woman to win the medal at the Paralympics. 19 year old shooter Avani Lekhara became the first Indian woman to bag gold at the games.
Nishad Kumar won silver for men’s high jump while Devendra Jhajharia bagged silver , Sundar Singh Gurjar won bronze and Sumit Antil won gold for Javelin throw. Yogesh Kathuniya won the Silver Medal for men’s discus throw while Mariyappan Thangavelu won silver and Sharad Kumar won bronze for high jump. For men’s air pistol shooting Singhraj Adhana bagged Bronze Medal. China leads the current medal tally with 147 medals.
